Simon Hughes entertains as awards handed out at Annual Dinner

A hugely successful 2024 season was celebrated last Friday, 7 February, with Simon Hughes as the guest speaker at our annual dinner.
From facing Malcolm Marshall at Lord's, being Ian Botham's teammate, to his award-winning media career, current adult and junior players, parents, and friends of Brentham, were entertained with stories from Simon's 40 years in cricket in the wonderful surrounds of Sudbury Golf Club.
Before Simon's speech, we looked back on a wonderful season for the club which culminated in promotion for our 1st XI. Presentations were made for our four league XIs, as well as the Clubperson, Performance, and Young Player of the Year gongs.
Leading wicket-taker Jack Solomon took the 1s Player of the Year award while Jack Ellis' four-wicket haul in the promotion-decider at London Tigers was the Arthur Thurland Performance of the Year. Jack was one of four current juniors to pick up an award on the night, continuing the club ethos of promoting youth.
George Allen's efforts with bat and ball were recognised as the 2s Player of the Year with Tom Barry and Ranveer taking the respective 3s and 4s gongs.
Lucas Smith was named the Des Parker Young Player of the Year for his consistency with the bat in the 1s, MDL, Under-19, and Under-17 sides.
Samiul Hoque's work fundraising, umpiring, supporting the juniors, and catering for club events saw him deservedly named the Norman Howard Clubperson of the Year.
