Simon Hughes guest speaker for Annual Dinner
We will be delighted to welcome cricketer and journalist Simon Hughes as the Guest Speaker for our annual dinner on Friday 7 February.
Simon was a key part of the hugely successful Middlesex side of the 1980s, winning four County Championships, two NatWest Trophy, the Benson and Hedges Cup, and the Refuge Assurance Cup.
All told he took 738 wickets in a 14-year career with Middlesex, Northern Transvaal, Grafton United, and Durham.
After retiring, Simon become synonymous with Channel Four's golden age of TV cricket coverage as 'The Analyst'.
Simon spent six years with Channel Four, covering the remarkable Ashes winning series of 2005. He won the Royal Television Society's Sports pundit of the Year award in 2002, before moving on to work for Channel 5, BBC's Test Match Special, ITV4, BT Sport and The Sunday Times. His autobiography 'A Lot Of Hard Yakka' also won the William Hill Sports Book Of The Year in 1997.
Hughes has a long connection with cricket in west London and was also a guest of honour for the opening of our new pavilion in 2018.
After the overwhelming success of last season's dinner, we'll be returning once again to the beautiful surrounds of Sudbury Golf Club on Friday 7 February, 7pm for 7.30pm.
As well as being entertained by our speakers, we will also look back on a wonderful season for the club, which culminated in promotion for our 1st XI, with the presentation of awards for our four league XIs, as well as the Clubperson, Performance, and Young Player of the Year gongs.
Last year, more than 85 current and former players, and friends of Brentham, were at the dinner, cementing its place as one of the highlights of the Middlesex Cricket social calendar! And, we look forward to seeing faces, new and old, again this February.
