The rain wins Week One

It was an unbeaten start for Brentham in the 2023 Middlesex County Cricket League, the only downside being none of the four sides actually took to the pitch to earn their points.

As was the case all across Middlesex, all four games were abandoned without a ball being bowled.

It was the same story on Sunday as the weather put paid to the home friendly against Nepotists.

Cricket was finally played at Meadvale Road on Monday in the shape of the MCCL T20. Meet Goswami's 43-ball 54 was the backbone of Brentham's 141-7.

Kenton's task in reply was made easier when rain reduced the equation to 99 off 14 overs. The away side were always in control in the chase and got over the line 3 down with an over to spare.

This weekend's action sees Tomek Tsang's 1s travel to Highgate while the same two sides meet at Meadvale Road in the 2s. Fresh from promotion, James Hitchcock takes the 3s to Southgate while the 4s welcome SKLPCC to William Perkin.

On Sunday, The Trees head to Enfield in the Middlesex Trophy while a friendly XI makes the short trip to Shepherd's Bush.
